I've finally decided what I'm going to do for my 10% reward. This may be bordering on too much information, so be warned before reading on.
Over the last few years I've developed a number of skin tags in one of my underarms. I also have a small one on my eyelid that I'd dearly love to part ways with. It's really embarrassing and ugly. I don't want to go swimming because of it. Well that, and I look like a blobule. But it's mostly because of the skin tags.
I used to say that I'd get them removed when I got to my goal weight but now I'm thinking "Why not now?" I hate them, I'm sure they don't like me much, and it'd do wonders for my self-esteem. Maybe I might even get into that bathing suit again.
I'm going to book a consultation at a local clinic to see what's involved. It looks relatively inexpensive but I just want to make sure that the price quoted isn't per skin tag. And if all is as it appears, I'm booking an appointment when I reach my 10% goal. Exciting!
UPDATE
I was a little nervous but I did it. I booked a consultation appointment for tomorrow evening!

Healthy Living?
Although I love Cool Whip, I've never actually laboured under the delusion that it's anything close to a "healthy" product. When I saw an advertising banner on WeightWatchers.ca that combined a picture of Cool Whip with the words "healthy living" I scoffed quietly to myself but clicked through anyways. I was surprised to find an assortment of recipes using Cool Whip, Jello gelatin, pudding, and/or fruit.
Despite what the marketing firm would have you believe, these sorts of recipes aren't actually healthy in the sort of organic free-range whole-food sort of way. But dayum if they don't look tasty! I think I'll keep these recipes in mind the next time there's a family dinner, picnic or otherwise special occasion.

Sobering truth
Sometimes, at the height of our revelries, when our joy is at it's zenith, when all is most right with the world, the most unthinkable disasters descend upon us.” – from A Christmas Story
I wouldn't say "disaster" per se, but I am feeling rather dumpy this morning after seeing some pics my husband took last night when we were out at a dodgeball practice (don't ask). The high of having someone congratulate me on my weight loss so far is fading in the light of the sobering truth: I have a ways to go yet.
I know photographs lie and all that and I have come a long ways already. But I've got to keep focused and not get too cocky. The popcorn was a nice treat but I can't let that become the norm. Keep eating right and indulge only once in awhile!

Bruschetta in a Bowl
Ah, I love it when the sun starts shining longer and all the fresh fruits and vegetables start coming out. Earlier this evening I thought, "This is barbeque and bruschetta weather!" And suddenly, I really really wanted some bruschetta.
Now, I don't usually wing things. I like recipes. That way, if it turns out to be an inedible mess, I can always blame the recipe. But wanting bruschetta and having a package of beautiful ripe cherry tomatoes, I didn't really have an excuse not to try.
So I decided to make a bruschetta salad. Quartered cherry tomatoes, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, Parmesan cheese and basil. And you know what? It actually tasted just like bruschetta except without the bread.
It felt really good to stand in a sunny kitchen and eat bruschetta out of one of my nice Chinese blue china bowls. When eating simple food like this, I can't help but think life is good.

Was it worth it?
In the long run...probably not. But it's nice to know I can indulge in cravings on Weight Watchers as long as I'm accountable (and am good for 99% of the time!)The craving of which I speak is popcorn. Specifically, movie theatre popcorn with butter. While salmon is without a doubt my Achilles heel, movie theatre popcorn is my Achilles elbow. And boy, did I indulge in it last night!
I ate an entire (small) bag of the stuff last night at a late movie. I knowingly took part in it, too. I earned 6 APs yesterday and I was bound and determined to use them and then some. When I got home and used Calorie King to look up the Nutritional Info, I wasn't really surprised at what I saw. Needless to say, it took a chunk out of my Weekly Allowance Points.
This morning, I'm a little "plugged up" and it seems too much of a coincidence. Fortunately, one bag of indulgence like this usually lasts me a few months or more. Ah well, here's to drinking water to get things moving again and to counteract water gain from all that sodium!

Curves Monthly Measurement - May
I finally went back to Curves yesterday. Even though I had missed it, it was still difficult to get going again. But I'm glad I went - not only did it feel good to work out again, but it was also time for my monthly measurement.I wasn't expecting too much out of it because I hadn't been to Curves for about three weeks. However, the printout that I received clearly said otherwise!
Since starting Curves, I've lost:
- 16.5 inches
- 16.0 pounds
- 3.8% body fat
