Eightieth Weigh-in
Despite the rough weeks I had, I'm down again this week by .8 lbs. Ironically, that's given me a goal that I initially had in mind when I first started Weight Watchers - to lose 75 lbs. I'll freely admit that the only reason why I had that goal in mind was so I could get the 75 lb charm. Yes, I'm a little superficial :)
Since I didn't think I'd be eligible to receive any more stickers or charms, it was quite the shock when my leader presented me with both this morning. You'd think I'd be over the moon with happiness. I am happy, yes. But in a reflective way. It's a nice thing to have but ultimately, it wasn't the big goal. The big goal has already been and gone and this is a sort of happy dénouement to my journey.
Even still, I'm proud to put it on my keychain and to affix what should be the last five pound star to my bookmark.

You are a phenomenal inspiration. Reading things like this just keep me going, sometimes, when I feel like throwing in the towel ;)
So, thank you! And congrats! :)
Wow! Congratulations!
I've been reading your blog for a while now and I have to say...you are such an inspiration! I do have a question for you though (I hope you don't mind)...I'm close to my WW goal, but personally I'd like to be about 5-7 lbs below the WW goal. So, my question is...when you reached the goal that WW set for you did you do 6 weeks of maintenance or did you just continue to work the program in a 'losing' fashion to get where you are now? I'd like to get to lifetime ASAP, but I also want to maintain my momentum to get to my personal goal. Any insight you could provide would be awesome! TIA!!
Congratulations! You look fantastic!
Caily - thank you very much! When I reached goal, I did 4 weeks of not doing anything specific. I wanted to go lower, but was still torn about whether to learn Maintenance at that time or later. I didn't want to lose my momentum either!
So I waffled for a long while and didn't adjust my points. Finally, I switched to Maintenance two weeks before getting Lifetime. Ironically, I lost more weight and met my personal goal despite trying not to.
If I had to do it again, I'dve started Maintenance right away. It's a special time to learn the ropes. You can always go lower through exercise alone - that's been pretty much how I lost the 6 lbs since goal.
Sheila - Thanks very much! It's funny; I get the most visitors to my blog through the Starbucks posts :)
Congrats on your success so far; you've certainly come a long way!
I know how difficult it is to pick a goal weight; I couldn't fathom what I'd look like when I got there, so I initially chose 130 lbs. I bumped that up to 135 after losing my 10%.
In answer to your question, I think it would depend on your frame-size. 120 is getting low on the weight-range chart for 5'3", but if you have a very small frame, it might be just the perfect amount for you.
If it helps, I'm a small-medium frame, and at 126 lbs (on my home scale), I'm looking a little bony in places. I still have a bit of a stomach and thighs, but that's where I tend to store the weight.
Also remember, your goal has to be long-term sustainable. Weight creeps on with age (unfortunately), and there will always be occasions and dinners to navigate. Having a bit of extra wiggle room gives you a bit more freedom.
My recommendation would be to wait until you get closer to goal and reassess. You'll be amazed at just how quickly your body will change in the last 20 lbs. Going from 155 to 135 was like night and day for me. If I'd known just how great I'd feel (and look) at 135, I wouldn't have had so much problems choosing that number!
Lastly, if it helps sway you either way, don't forget that if you're a meeting member, you don't have to pay once you reach Lifetime status. That's part of the reason why I chose 135 as my goal; so I could stop paying sooner.
Best wishes to you for the rest of your journey; you're doing fantastic! And thanks again for stopping by :)
